Doris Weiss Memorial Scholarship for Art Majors

Doris Weiss began taking classes at the College in 1987. As a senior citizen, she brought with her an extensive background in the arts and was a wonderful addition to the Art department’s classes, as well as an inspiration for the students. Her focus at the College was in painting and ceramics. Upon her death in January 1993, a memorial exhibition of her many art works was held at the College. Her children presented the College with a grant from her estate in order to set up a scholarship in her name for art students.
Two students will be selected to receive $500 each. Eligible applicants must possess a minimum GPA of 2.5, have earned 24 or more credits at the College by the end of the spring semester, have completed 12 or more credits in studio, and be returning to the College in the fall. Finalists must submit a portfolio of 6 works of art from studio art classes at the College. Interested students are encouraged to submit their applications by March 1.
