Thomas R. and Cathryn Scott Mathematics Award

The Thomas R. and Cathryn Scott Mathematics Award was established by the Mathematics department in remembrance of the beloved Thomas R. Scott. This scholarship awards up to $1,000 to a student graduating by the end of the summer semester. The applicant must display high academic achievement, community involvement, and strong character. Applicants must be enrolled in one of the following majors: Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering Science, Secondary Education: Math/Science, and pursing a math or math related baccalaureate degree at a four-year institution. The scholarship, endowed by their family, honors the memory of Thomas R. Scott, an associate professor of Mathematics, on faculty from 1965 until his death in 1981, and his beloved wife, Cathryn, who shared his passion for academic endeavor and encouraged his enthusiasm for teaching at the nascent Community College of Philadelphia.
