Deesha Dyer Second Chance Scholarship

Deesha Dyer is a Philadelphia native and Community College of Philadelphia alumna who became a White House intern at the age of 30 and spent seven years as the Social Secretary for the Obama Administration. Her storied career is unconventional at best, with themes of reinvention, drive, and a commitment to community service integrated throughout.
The Deesha Dyer Second Chance Scholarship will award up to $1,000 to one student in the spring semester. Qualified applicants must be returning to school after a minimum two-year absence (from high school or college), have earned 12 or more credits and possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8. Applicants may be full-time or part-time. Funds will be applied to the recipients’ tuition account. Applicants must complete the general essay (Tell us your story!) and the community service essay. African-American women are encouraged to apply. To be considered for this scholarship, your scholarship application must be submitted by October 19.
